In-Person vs. Home Physical Therapy: Which Is Right for You?

Longevity Rehab offers both clinic-based and in-home physical therapy in Indian River County. Here's how to decide which option is best for your needs.

Two Great Options for Physical Therapy in Indian River County

At Longevity Rehab Center, we offer two primary models of physical therapy: in-clinic care at one of our four locations in Vero Beach, Sebastian, and Wabasso, and in-home physical therapy throughout Indian River County. Both are staffed by the same licensed physical therapists and covered by Medicare and most major insurances. Here's how to decide which is right for you.

In-Clinic Physical Therapy

Best for patients who:

  • Are mobile and can travel to a clinic
  • Benefit from specialized equipment (parallel bars, exercise machines, our therapeutic pool)
  • Want access to aquatic therapy (West Vero Beach only)
  • Prefer the structured environment of a clinic
  • Are recovering from surgery and need intensive early rehabilitation

Our four locations: East Vero Beach, West Vero Beach (+ Aquatic Therapy), Sebastian, and Wabasso. All open Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.

In-Home Physical Therapy

Best for patients who:

  • Are homebound — leaving home requires significant effort due to illness, injury, or disability
  • Recently discharged from the hospital or a rehabilitation facility
  • Have transportation limitations
  • Prefer to recover in a familiar environment
  • Want therapy focused on real-world functional tasks in their actual home setting
  • Caretakers who need to be present and prefer in-home scheduling

Important: A Doctor's Referral Is Required for Home PT

To receive in-home physical therapy through Longevity Rehab Center, you will need a signed physician's referral stating that physical therapy is medically necessary. This is a Medicare requirement for home health services. Your doctor can fax the referral directly to us.

The Hybrid Option

For patients who are partially homebound or transitioning from home PT to independent function, we offer a hybrid model — a combination of in-home visits and clinic appointments. This gives you the flexibility of home care with access to our clinical equipment and therapeutic pool.

Insurance Coverage for Both Options

Both in-clinic and in-home physical therapy are covered by Medicare Part B and most major insurance plans including Blue Cross Blue Shield. Call us at (772) 978-9750 to verify your benefits and discuss which option is right for your situation.
